FoodDrinkEurope is firmly committed to supporting research and innovation in the food sector, which will accelerate the efforts of food and drink manufacturers towards the achievement of SDGs.
We believe that progress should be made through public and private collaboration, and therefore we actively support the work of the European Technology Platform (ETP) ‘Food for Life’ and other related fora, such as the Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs) ‘Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life’, and ‘Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change’.
Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) is a cross-cutting issue across all research areas, fundamental to build trust with society and gain its support. It implies that societal actors (researchers, citizens, policy makers, business, third sector organisations, etc.) work together during the whole R&I process in order to better align it with the values, needs and expectations of society. In practice, RRI is about engaging third sector organisations and citizens in R&I, enabling easier access to scientific results, considering gender and ethics in R&I processes, and enhancing formal and informal science education.
FoodDrinkEurope contributes to this debate by promoting Research Integrity and good practices of citizen engagement in science.
